Tree Service in Jonesville, FL
Jonesville is an unincorporated stretch of W Newberry Road between Gainesville and Newberry, about 27 minutes from our north Gainesville base. We handle removals, trimming, stump grinding, and storm calls there.
Where exactly is Jonesville?
The community is named for John Joseph Jones, who moved here in the early 1850s, farmed south of the old Newnansville Road, and became the first postmaster when the post office opened in 1875. Its boundaries are informal, roughly 122nd Street on the east to about 170th Street on the west.
Older neighborhoods here include Jockey Club and West End Golf View Estates, while newer subdivisions such as Amelia Fields, Turnberry Lake, and Wyndsong followed as Gainesville spread west.
Jonesville Park, off County Road 241, has baseball and soccer fields, tennis courts, a mile-long track, and a disc golf course. Alachua County Fire Rescue Station 24 sits just north of it.

Trees the county protects
Jonesville has no city hall, so Alachua County’s tree rules apply to most properties here. The county regulates champion trees, heritage trees, specimen trees, and landmark live oaks of 45 inches across or more.
Beyond those, the lot decides. On single-family lots of one acre or less, native trees over 20 inches are covered, and laurel and water oaks over 30. On larger lots, and on commercial or HOA land, every tree over 8 inches needs approval first.

Jonesville tree questions
Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Jonesville?
For a large tree, yes. Jonesville is unincorporated, so the Alachua County permit applies to most addresses. The County Forester’s office handles those permits. State law also bars a permit requirement when a certified arborist or Florida-licensed landscape architect documents a residential tree as an unacceptable risk.
What if a regulated tree comes down without a permit?
The county can require replacement trees or a fee in lieu, based on the size and quality of what came down, at up to double the rate for work done without a permit.
Can you trim limbs without taking the tree down?
Yes. Tree Trimming is its own service, for live limbs crowding a roof, a drive, or a fence line. Call (727) 486-1206 and describe how high the limbs are and what they reach.
